The Witcher seems to be the next big blast for Henry Cavill. Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill is a British actor. He began his career with roles in the feature adaptations of The Count of Monte Cristo and I Capture the Castle. The 36 years old actor has once again proven himself that he can play any role.
The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world in which people often prove more wicked than beasts. Netflix’s The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill as a monster Hunter is dropping on Friday, December 20th and here is the time when you can watch it.
It is based on the best selling book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, Lauren Schmidt, who also co-produced The Umbrella Academy and the Netflix Marvel series The Defenders, which will serve as The Witcher’s showrunner. The series has already been extended for season 2 after season 1’s eight-episode run.
The Witcher will be available on Friday that is December 20th at midnight PST/3 AM EST for fans hoping to be the first to see this new fantasy series. All of the first season episodes will be available then, and the next season is expected in 2021.
Henry Cavill has spoken about his love for the series and the saga has garnered a cult following after the release of Sapkowski’s eight novels from 1993-2013’s Season of Storms. In addition to this upcoming Netflix offering, the books spawned a successful video game franchise from developer CD Projekt Red, a comic book series, and Polish film and television adaptations. Given the built-in franchise, there is a lot of pressure for Netflix’s take on The Witcher to live up to the hype.
Though this series has a different structure than Game of Thrones, the success of HBO’s hit proves that there is a willing fanbase for high minded fantasy stories and The Witcher just might be what fantasy fans have been missing.
