Anne with an E was titled as Anne for its first season. It is a Canadian drama television series based on the 1980 novel ” Anne Green Gables” by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It was adapted by Emmy Awards winner and producer Moira Walley Beckett. It first aired on CBC Television in Canada and became the talk of the town.
Later Netflix acquired the right to stream it and it gained immense popularity internationally. CBC adopted Anne with an E name beginning in the second season.
Netflix and CBC renewed the series for ten episodes a third season, which premiered on 22nd September 2019 but later rumors of the series ‘s possible cancellation began to circulate.
Their rumors made the fans wonder will Anne with an E be returning any time soon or ever for that matter?
Turns out that the rumors were true Netflix and CBC released a joint statement confirming that Anne with an E will not be renewed for a fourth season and end after it’s the current third season!
This seemed to have disappointed the fans who were desperately waiting to find out what happens next in the life of the young orphan girl played by Amybeth McNulty and follows her adventures in the small town of Avonlea, on Prince Edward Island, Canada but I guess we won’t be able to find that out now! Devasted and disappointed fans have now started a campaign to save their series.
Needless to say, Instagrams and Facebook are filled with posts captioned #RenewAnnewithanE and it has been used over a million times since the show’s cancellation was announced.
Even though the fans are hell-bent on bringing back their show, it returns is still a question mark! The producers of the thing that it’s highly unlikely that the show will return.
Through an Instagram post the show’s producers Moira Walley Beckett expressed his disappointment over the cancellation of the show and mentioned that “it was impossible to argue with words like Economics, Algorithms, Demographic…”.
