Altered carbon is a drama series on Netflix. More than 300 years in the future, society has been transformed by new technology, leading to human bodies being interchangeable and death no longer being permanent.
Takeshi Kovacs is the only surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising.
The show has been liked by almost 96 percent of the viewers. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the show has only scored 68 percent which is quite less. But it has the chance to increase the ratio in the future. The first episode was released on 2nd Feb 2018.
In the show, the novelist Richard Morgan poses a future in which human beings can transmit their consciousness over great distances between the stars.
The main problem is that the travelers must leave their body behind, only to be inserted into a new sleeve once they reach their destination.
The novels follow a Takeshi Kovacs while traveling through space and time investigating both public and private mysteries.
In the first season Kovacs was played by two different actors: Will Yun Lee as the original Kovacs and Joel Kinnaman as the manga Kovacs, some 200 years in the future.
The challenge was to connect both the men with the central search of the series which is the search for the lost lover of Kovacs.
Also, the first season ends with the revelation that Quell is still alive. But in the very next chapter Kovacs moves on to a new manga presented as Mackie at the beginning of the second season.
Likely everything is a bit jarring, even for fans of novels. Schapker says that it is a part of the challenge of adapting the unusual source material.
The team is not following Morgan’s books to the letter, so the fans should head to this next season hoping to find the next part of the story collection.
