Microsoft’s Surface Go launched the latest version not so long ago. The latest version of Microsoft’s Surface Go is ready to be a 2-in-1 laptop. This 2-in-1 doesn’t hamper your bank accounts though, it is quite inexpensive.
Surface Go 2 is the next-in-line creation of Microsoft, after the original Surface Go 1. It is the new low-end Surface device. The original version was received affirmatively. It received a lot of positive and respected reviews. The ZDNet contributing writes Ed Bott said that the Surface Go is a better replacement of PC by Microsoft and it is a money friendly device too.
Microsoft watched a boost in sales of the 2-in-1 surface device. It gave them the idea to come up with another hit version in the Tech world. Microsoft has put quite a number of pros in the new device. It is cheap, portable and can perform functions of a full-fledged Surface Pro.
Here we provide you with all the details of Surface Go 2 that we know so far.
Introduction of Microsoft’s Surface Go 2
Surface Go 2 is the 2nd version of Microsoft in its low-end portable Surface line device. This device shares similarities with the 2018’s parent version i.e. Surface Go 1. The 2nd version runs Windows 10 in S mode, has a detachable type cover clipped with magnets. The device is compatible with a surface pen and owns a kickstand to support it.
The new device of Microsoft is different from the older one more on the inner side. It has an additional processor RAM and storage choices. It also has an LTE option. The new Surface Go 2 has a larger screen measuring 10.5″.
One of the biggest afterdeals of the new creation is likely the Windows 10 on S model. The S mode allows the device to download apps only from the Windows 10 app store. Fortunately, we can easily switch off this S mode but there’s no two-way road. It means once you switch off the S mode you can’t switch it on again. Your device will run on a Windows 10 Home afterwards.
The Surface Go 2 doesn’t provide you as much processing power as Surface Pro provides. Obviously, the original starting price of $399 can’t afford much processing power. You can increase the power by getting an additional Intel M3 processor. But this addition will cost you at least $629. However, Microsoft advertised it’s a new creation to be 64% faster than the original one.
Is Surface Go 2 better than iPad Pro and Chromebook X2?
No doubt that Surface Go 2 has tough competition from Apple’s iPad Pro that gives similar hardware add-ons. But the iPad Pro is much more expensive than the Surface Go 2 and it doesn’t even provide a full-fledged OS. The Windows 10 S mode has so many issues similar to the iPad OS. But in Microsoft’s device, we get an option to upgrade to the full version of Windows 10. Apple devices lack this feature.
Chromebook 2-in-1 like HP Chromebook X2 is also a good competitor. It features the same design and the price starts from $380, approximately similar to the Surface Go 2.
There are a large collection of other cheap 2in1 devices. They are in the list of competitors too. But we can say, that Microsoft has gathered a fine space in the market of technology. It’s Surface Go 2 has performed well in its category till now. It’s a surface product, that line already has a good image in the market. This device allows you to add-on hardware like Surface Pen and Dial that other devices of a similar price lacks.
This device is no doubt a good one in range. It provides a lot of facilities. But it won’t replace higher-end machines with more processing power. Surface Go 2 will be a precise device for remote workers, those who don’t do intense computing and who need to be mobile.
The purchase for the Surface Go 2 is available now. It started on May 12, 2020, from Microsoft’s website.
