Beginning Monday, Americans will receive a $285 one-time check. Residents of the state of Maine will receive the check. This is part of a budget agreement aimed at assisting those who worked through the pandemic in 2020.
As a thank you for working, 524,754 residents of the state will receive a $285 disaster relief payment.
The State Tax Assessor was given access to the Disaster Relief Payment Program in order to locate those who were eligible for payments before deciding on a payment amount that would not exceed $300. The tax assessor divided the $149.8 million set aside for the 524,754 residents after determining how many citizens eligible.
Are You Eligible for $285 Check & When Will You Get That Payment?
- To be eligible, you must have filed taxes in Maine for the year 2020 and have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of less than $150,000 if married filing jointly, $112,000 if filing head of household, and $75,000 if filing single.
- No one who has been claimed as a dependent is eligible.
- Payments will begin to be sent to eligible individuals on Monday, Nov. 15 and will continue for the next six weeks.
- In that timeframe, 5,000 to 25,000 checks will be mailed daily.
